This group is led by the composer and
multi-instrumentalist Peter Lindahl. Three CD´s has been released
so far and since the first CD
titled "The Garden of Mysteries" (released on APM-label 1996) almost every band member has been
changed. An intimate co-operation has been
initiated with Håkan Almkvist who contributes on sitar, tabla, electric
guitar,
bass and soundscapes. Kirk Chilton from Ensemble
Nimbus appears as guest musician on the CD release "Walking on Clouds". Peter's compositions are much influenced by the music from the Middle East, but after many travels to these parts of the world he recently ended up in India. He got much inspiration from over there and wanted to incorporate its subsequent mood into his music and also his lyrics. He is also much inspired by the psychedelic period of the sixties, like Beach Boys, Beatles and others. With the characteristic sound from the Mellotron you might also associate to bands like Moody Blues, King Crimson etc. Other influences are filmscore composers like Ennio Morricone and Goran Bregovic. Peter has also a predilection for meditative and lyric sounds. All this influences have merged into Peter's own personal style of music! Here is his own description: Beside our devotion to melodies and mystical themes, IN THE LABYRINTH is about anything you can pick up and have moulded into a new combined form. Such as Medieval with Middle East, Scandinavian folklore with Symphonic rock, Psychedelic with Ambient or Indian raga with Score music.
